This year I wanted to send some handmade holiday cards to clients. First I created a design in Illustrator.
This is the how it looks when the card is closed. The card is 6.125" H x 4.25" W and fits in an A6 envelope.
This is the card when opened -- the flap opens to the right and reveals the greeting. There's space to write a personal message on the right-hand side, and I've marked the fold with a dotted line.
I decided to work with paper on this project to create a more 3-dimensional, textured feel. That meant cutting out a lot of letters and the trees and stars. Here's a photo of the stencils I made.
Partway through the process, I had the trees, stars, and cards themselves cut out. For this card, I still need to cut the notch into the card to allow the entire star to be visible when the card is closed. In this photo you can also see the paper where I was cutting out letters.
And here is a finished card!
