The objective of this project is to translate your personal views of issues/ your personal interests into graphic design. As an avid baker and a young adult keen into politics, i have decided to combine these two in creating Cake Politics.
Cake politics is a cupcake store concept that brings both Singapore politics and the cupcake together. It uses the tiny cupcake as metaphor to describe the political scene; how I feel that the cupcake is actually similar to our Singapore Context.
One example of how i felt the Cupcake was similar to Singapore politics:
1. Competitiveness
In Singapore, we saw the rise of several cupcake stores. The cupcake industry is becoming increasingly competitive with every store offering different things (flavors, store concept, ambient) Likewise for our political scene, the rise of opposition parties as opposed to the main party, who each promises different things (Plans, Policies etc)
With that concept in mind, I set out to think of the various flavors along with the description for the flavors, in relation to major issues/parties in mind.
The colors chosen for the cupcakes were in close relation to the Party color, and the description draws similarities to the characteristic of the Party. Eg The All White Cupcakes, a vanilla cupcake, a classic flavor, and here to stay.
Name card: Crosses to represent the polling cards, where by voters have to mark a X to the party they support.
