Ann Haaland's profile

Oct 2018, Sage Green Luminosity

In these works, my intention was to create a luminosity with a silvery sage green, a nod to the end of the warm weather and a changing vantage point of aging. Each piece was created using a foam roller and the same acrylic paint, removing pigment with paper towel or scrubbing it out and away with sprayed on water, making multiple layers either with a coat of heavy gel or dusting the work with dry metallic pigment. The layering invokes mist and mystery, a soft reference to the sensuality of nature. By October I felt myself hitting a stride in my studio practice, becoming happier and freer.
