Project 4 - Abstraction

Project 4 - Abstraction

Our final project for this semester in Design 2D was focused on Abstraction. We would abstract an object found in nature, exaggerate its features and give it another meaning.

Here I chose a rooster, my favorite animal. I gave it a smile (even though this bird never really smiles); and to go along with a theme of a morning on the farm, I used the texture of a wooden board and turned it yellow, similar to fields of wheat and the morning sun.

The font I used for this project was called "Garamond", one of the five fonts given to us to use for our logo. I chose this font because it worked well with the theme and also reminded me of a breakfast place I used to go to.

Finally, I created three mockups with everything I created. One was a billboard, one was a vinyl cover, and one was a paper cup. All mockups were edited using Adobe Photoshop.

Below are the final presentations of the finished contour drawing, the texture and typographic, and three mockups of the final.
"Abstract: Having an intellectual and affective artistic content that depends solely in intrinsic form rather than on narrative content or pictorial representation"
