Concentration
I created a comfortable space by eliminating some disturbing information from outside, like noise and bad smell as well as strengthening some required information like dim light. By slightly taking control of their senses, people can own a private space when just wear the wearable device. The core value of design is to provide a perfect working environment in public areas and fit their ‘on-the-go’ needs.
The appearance is inspired by TP1 phonograph by Dieter Rams.
TP1 is the earliest popular potable phonograph. Phonograph in Chinese is '留声机'. '留' means ‘remain’. '声' means ’sound‘. Therefore, the literal meaning of phonograph means the machine which remains sound. On the contrary, my product is a machine which stops the sound from outside. Therefore, I take this symbol from '留声机'.
Inspiration & Research
I did interviews on the railway and in the cafe—whether your senses serve as an effective tool or a disturbance in a particular experience?
People are more willing to work in the public area today instead of at home or in the office. They tend to be able to gain more concentration outside without distractions from familiar people. However, they can't always find the perfect working environment.
Adjust the reading light and the level of noise cancellation by rotating the buttons on two sides. The text on the product indicate all the methods to use it so that users don't need to refer to instructions.
