Jezyce. Tales from the Bronx.

From September 2012 until January 2018, the Jezyce district in Poznan and the street
Wawrzyniaka was where I called home and locals affectionally call it "The Bronx" from many years of the area being hard and edgy. I found it to be endearing, but loved the stories I would hear about its past. I walked every street and knew every corner by heart, watched as the neighborhood blossomed and filled with changes, schlepped untold amounts of groceries from the Rynek Jezyce, ate at all of the local places and cheered on the new ones that emerged while mourning the ones that closed. During the entire adventure I shot constantly allowing for every detail to have a place to be remembered and visted all my favorite puddles every year, if not every season of the year. It was here, in Jezyce, that I learned how to live through my everyday rituals with a constant curiosity to discover more.
I arrived as a stranger and left as a friend.
These images are a small selection and little vignettes of a much larger collection, but they allude to the character of the neighborhood and speak of the history that seeps from every building and person I met along the way.
Jezyce, I am very proud of my time there. Thank you for making me feel at home.
