We were required to create two posters for a hypothetical film. We could come up with a whole new plotline of our own or create a plotline based on true events. The project had to be executed with photography: One portrait and the other a light painted photograph. We then had to apply suitable typography and editing.

With Wes Anerson as insperation, I used a story based on true events that Anderson would love to get his hands on. The story of a bunch of odd scientists were sent to an island to brutally murder every single cat on the island. Being scientists, and not at all hunters, this odd group departed for the strangest expedition of their lives.

I used this story to create a quirky poster for a potentially quirky film that emphasises each character and the bizarre reality of the story. The name "Katslagters" is Afrikaans for "cat slaughterers" and the tagline "iemand gaan 'n kat skiet" means "someone is going to shoot a cat" which is an Afrikaans saying that also means to throw up - adding to the humorous quirky tone of the posters.
