Konwersatorium poświęcone jest związkom literatury (oraz sztuki) i geografii w kontekście nowego interdyscyplinarnego zainteresowania przestrzenią w badaniach kultury, określanego również jako zwrot topograficzny. Samo pojęcie geopoetyki wywodzi się z dyskursu filozoficzno-literackiego (Kenneth White)
i funkcjonuje obecnie zarówno w obiegu literackim, jak i teoretycznym. Nawiązując do poetyki (poiesis) określenie to akcentuje aktywną, twórczą rolę literatury i sztuki w formowaniu, projektowaniu przestrzeni geograficznej – w znaczeniu kulturowych praktyk konstruowania terytoriów, miejsc i pejzażu oraz związanej
z topografią tożsamości i pamięci.
