Directed the concept for Nike Basketball's "Area 72" collection in celebration of our athletes in NBA All Star Weekend. Worked with Eugene Rogers and Morgan Barnes to create a footwear (and subsequent apparel and accessory) collection based off of the idea of superhuman/extraterrestrial abilities of the world's best basketball players.
As lead graphic designer on the project, I also created a visual center of textures, patterns, typography and character illustrations to use across the assortment of product and in the design of the brand space at our "Area 72" installation in Houston.

Provided textures, patterns and graphic details to the Nike Sportswear side of the collection.

Designed a mock tabloid newspaper that reported alien sightings, etc. showing vignettes of the mutiple stories that built the different looks for each of the shoes. The newspaper was integrated as the tissue paper that wrapped the shoes in the box.
Evolved the galaxy pattern aesthetic from the previous year's collection to have a marbelized effect. Mutliple colorways of this pattern came to life throughout the breadth of product.
Alien glyph pattern created by breaking apart the lines of a basketball court.
Designed a reimagined version of the Nike "Raygun" character. It was later made into a mascot for the launch event in Houston, Texas.
Area 72 buildout in Houston's Galleria Mall. A geodisic dome built atop an ice skating rink set the stage for a planetary excursion through our own Nike universe. Kudos to Jason Herkert of Nike Brand Design for collaborating and executing a beautiful space/experience.
