Tribeca Revisited
Solo Artist Exhibition | Dietz Gallery, 2004
Drawn by my memories of the Tribeca of my early childhood, I wanted to shoot a series of photographs that captured some the character of the neighborhood as I remembered it before it vanished forever.
I'm attracted by the architectural details in Tribeca's old warehouse buildings — the Romanesque arches and Neoclassical columns on an industrial backdrop. Cobblestone streets and handpainted signage are a reminder of the area's former character, and the textures of the old iron, wood, brick façades, and graffiti convey layers of history even as the neighborhood continues to change.
