Bladmuziek

Now it is time for something different. Project “bladmuziek”, which translates to “sheet music”, however we took the translation a bit more literally, instead of sheet music it became more like leaf music.

This project was our answer to the question: “Increasing the happiness in the lift space with green and technology.”. Which just gave us/me more questions, for instance: “What is happiness?”, “What do they mean with green?” and in what way should we incorporate technology?”. This was the start of our research. In the photos above you can see our entire journey of this project.

In our research we found that the target audience felt really disconnected from their neighbours. This was often due to language barriers. Another big factor was the fact that most of the target audience has never felt confident in their use of technology.  They often use their smartphone to got to Facebook, but that’s where it ended.

Result
With the results of our research in mind we decided to make an interactive planter box. Where when a person touches a plant in it, a sound gets created. With the size we envisioned you need several people to eventually create a music piece.

My task
I was responsible for our visual identity and the interaction design. For me, it was really important that there were no screens or any visual interfaces. We wanted it to make it as simple as possible.
