TASK & SITUATION
Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are celebrating the centenary of their independence in 2018. In respect of that, a chocolate maker Vilniaus Pergalė has decided to present an extraordinary selection of sweets.
The design had to stand out on the shelves, which are typically dominated by dark boxes, to reflect both exceptional quality and the centennial celebration in a clear way. The festive packaging had to suit various occasions and become a welcome gift as well as something you’d gladly bring others from the airport.
When working on the design of the packaging, we wanted to give a visual meaning to the fact that all three Baltic countries had agreed to become independent at the same time a hundred years back. So the essential idea behind the linear story as well as behind the intertwining objects was that Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are not separate states – they’re united by this mutual experience and achievement.
The box includes elements of landscape specific to the three countries, stylised motifs of nature, and architectural objects that everyone is familiar with. The design was created using the most solemn and respectable colour scheme – white and gold. We’ve coloured the flags that we wanted to bring out just like sacred gems on jewellery. In addition, upon opening the box, the buyer finds a brief inspirational text inside.
