Planning, Programming and Design

UCLA Capital Programs – Design Group (84 – 97)  Los Angeles, California

UCLA Capital Programs is responsible for the planning, design and construction of all major capital improvements by the University of California Los Angeles. My responsibilities were as planner, architect and illustrator for Capital Programs from its inception in 1985. Capital Programs’ charge within the context of the UCLA Academic Mission “to achieve preeminence in scholarship, educational leadership and technological advancement” was to provide responsible campus planning to support this mission. By identifying program goals, designing new building and open space and articulating the University image the Design Group was able to provide a vision for the future physical development of the Campus. This experience has allowed me to establish a strong understanding of the philosophies and critical thinking necessary for design and planning of complex systems and places.
