Peckham Levels Write Up
On Monday 19thof November as a group we all visited Peckham Levels to look at the exhibition space that we would be using.
Peckham levels is an old car park that was used for the town centre originally but was very underused so Southwark Council decided to turn the interior levels into something else and asked the community for help.

Eventually they chose The Make Shift team and Carl Turner Architects to work together to transform the car park into a place to support employment and the arts.

We went up to level 6 which is where we are going to set up our photos for the to begin exhibition.
First of all we had to edit our photos down more as we had budget cuts so were only allowed 8 photos for our piece for the exhibition, while doing so we started to start to think and sketch out different ideas for the layout.

At first you thought about using the metal grates above the area that we are using but when you took our rough prints to it saw that it would be too close to the wall and so wouldn’t work it also didn’t fit in with what the other groups in our area were doing for presenting their photos.
We then chose a regular presentation of our images where we have four of our favourite images at A2 size in a square next to each other then we have four other prints at A4 size one on each side of the square of A2.
We felt like this would be the best way to present our images as we had too many to tell the story of change in Deptford and it would be a bit over whelming for the viewers too look at and also wouldn’t fit with any other groups project.

We then had to write a short piece on what our project was about in relation to the original ‘Change’ brief.
