The program “Open Polyclinic “ operates with the aim of providing primary medical health care and psychosocial support to people who lack access to the National Health Care System as the immigrants, the refugees without legal license of their stay in the country, the poor people or these without insurance, homeless people and Roma populations.

The program is based on 3 parts including the Primary Health Care, where the medical personnel of the Polyclinic helps the patients during its opening hours, the Emergency Cases, which are based on a net of volunteers in all the hospitals of the country, which intervenes in cases of urgent access to the National Health Care System, getting over the bureaucratic obstacles and finally the Drugstore , which provides medicines to the patients.

In Athens, this program operates since 1997.From the beginning of its function ,more than 100.000 patients have received medical and pharmaceutical care for free from the Polyclinic. During the last years, specialized teams of volunteers cure , on average, 14.000 of patients each year. The main origin countries of the beneficiaries are Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, African Countries, Iran, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine and Albania
