Thank You, Stan Lee | Typographical Poster

This project that began in late November was based around the idea of designing a typographical poster that would help pay tribute to the American comic book writer and editor Stan Lee (known for the creation of many fictional superheroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, the Fantastic Four, and Daredevil) by the use of an illustration-like narrative that borrows many distinctive elements from the Spider-Man universe, due to the fact that Spider-Man himself was my favourite superhero growing up from a very young age.

As you will see, the visual style of the final outcome is that of minimalism and simplicity with the inclusion of a basic narrative whereby the letters of the words “thank” and “you” have been strung up by the use of Spider-Man’s webbing, with the inclusion of simple centre-aligned text at the bottom to help recognise Stan Lee’s name, as well as his respective year of birth and year of death.

The display mockup for the final outcome places the design itself into a black frame that is then rested up against a wall that shares a similar colour to the dominant colour of the finished poster. This helps ensure that both elements blend together in a calm yet formal manner that isn’t too distracting, or make one seem out of place from the other.
