Colour Symphony

Colour plays a vital role in design and everyday life. It can capture your eyes to an image, evoke different kinds of mood and emotions, or even communicate without the use of words. As a designer, it is very important to know which colour looks good together, and which ones do not. My artwork explores colour combinations through colour theory, colour wheel. I took my project further with the concept of hue, saturation, and value.

My idea is, by dipping ordinary objects into paints, the object obtains an unusual property, the colour, the texture and how the lights react to the surface of the material alters. It is striking to see how the objects change its state just by this simple process.

The elements of the object floating in the air, so a weightlessness vibe can be achieved and the audience can pay more attention to the colours. The object I chose are mainly monochromatic which fits best when smashing with a different colour. The colour vibrate, complement  and collide with each other.

It evokes a great contrast to the normal perception.
The colour combinations of my work was designed with the colour theories mentioned above. It makes all the colours come together. Although the paint may make the objects seems exotic, the colour theory helps synchronising and coordinate the colours and make them oddly appealing. The background, the object, the paint and the shadow all contribute to my visual symphony.
