FEMINISM

In a Little Village Upcountry, Women demanded equal rights to Men. There were, obviously rules, roles, responsibilities and laws that governed that land but most of them limited women from getting the basic needs and wants as men which led to the uprising of the Women who demanded equal rights and opportunities as the Men.

Men could be men as they said. Women could be women with an “if”, a condition attached to it. For example, a man could walk late at night with no harassment, a woman could walk late at night but her safety was not guaranteed.

All these factors influenced the move of #equalrights for both genders heavily championed by the women and some men in the village who believed in the same movement and that the times were changing and it just had to happen.

Women and men deserve protection, respect, equal rights opportunities and responsibilities, the right to say no or yes, the right to change their minds, the right to be themselves and voice their opinions, the rights to not be oppressed. Women wanted to be viewed as equal despite the difference in physical and emotional structure in both genders.

Some Women wanted to the lifestyle of men, Hunting and gathering instead waiting to be brought the catch home, cook and care for kids. They wanted to sit on round tables and enjoy a drink. As this developed, men in that village, Men got uncomfortable with the uprising. conflicts became order of the day. Some men went exile and found refuge and comfort in another village. The decreasing population of Men in this village resulted to more chaos. They have to work extra harder and protect themselves from predators.

We caught one of the women championing the movement. She is strong, fierce and pure optimistic that one-day equality will be as normal as breathing in oxygen.

To make this world a better place to live in, we have to honestly appreciate our diversity and strength, hence seek to compliment each other rather than gender wars. Each one has a role to played that they are created and empowered to perform best!
