IMAGES OF THE FLOATING WORLD

“Ukiyo-e” is the name of the japanese woodblock prints created byartists such as Hokusai, Utamaro or Hiroshige, admired by countless westernartists of the beggining of the 20 th century.

Meaning literally“pictures of the floating world”, they represent that period’s daily lifeimages, highlighting its hedonistic and sensual aspects.

This series of digitalprints are inspired of them, making a free interpretation of its literalmeaning: depicting characters floating in an unreal world.

These illustrations were selected in the 2008 INJUVE Illustration Contest, and exhibited between 2008 and 2010 in the FIAP Cultural Center in Paris, in the Château de la Chesnaie in Beauchamp, in the Epitanime Convention in Paris, in the 15th Barcelona Manga Convention and in the Studio Banana in Madrid
