Paper Weight, 2018
Greek ionic columns often present an idea of physical institutions, usually tethered to power and governance. Insitutionality itself is much more fragile; a binding of principles and behaviors.
This column reflects this separation via the use of thin dowels and a paper wrap, creating an image of assumed authority that is at the same time broken and feeble. The wrap is made with the first 96 words of the 'Institution' Wikipedia page, followed by the question, 'What is your institution?'.
