In this shot, this shows Elyse (Mommy) happy as a clam and ready to get this baby out! All lights are on in the Delivery room and she is embracing the moments while it happens, despite contractions. This is the beginning of a long night she is about to embark. As for photography, this shows Elyse in the center of the frame and taken at a 45 degree angle to show the hospital bed background and the hospital lights reflecting on her face.
In this shot, Elyse had to walk around multiple laps. We counted to over 4,000 steps to accelerate the delivery process. She had to walk around while attached to multiple things to monitor her heart and contractions. This was a new system the hospital was trying out and allowed Elyse to be mobile until she went on the epidural.
This shot shows Weston as he entered this world for the first time. With all the lights exposed to him, I had to reduce the exposure quite a bit to show the tone in his skin.
This shot shows Weston and I for the first time, introducing him to the world of family/friends. Exposure was taken down a few notches with all the light. The elements of this shot is myself in center of the frame as Elyse (took the shot) to capture Weston while he was awake. ISO 80, 50mm focal length, 1/60 ISO.
This shot shows Elyse being intimate and connecting with Weston for the first time. The elements of this shot is that Weston and Elyse are in focus. Lighting was a lot lower so shutter speed had to be reduced.
This shot shows Calleigh (3 year old big sister) greeting Weston for the first time while Grandma Carol holds him for the first time.
This shot shows Calleigh talking to Weston for the first time with a focus/depth of field. Due to the low-light, ISO had to be increased.
This shot shows my parents (Father's parents) greeting Weston for the first time.
This shot shows Weston coming home for the first time and Calleigh's excitement that her new brother is home. Everybody remembers that moment the first time you bring your newborn child home for the first time and how exciting it is to have another addition to the family.
This shot shows me (Daddy) holding Weston while exhausted as I let Mommy get much needed sleep. The elements of this shot and story it tells is that it takes a Village to raise a baby, not a person. In this case, the newborn Weston was up all night nursing and even though the sun is out and day is bright, hours of sleep are often skewed no matter what.
