In her drawings, Anja Wiese focuses on political events, the image and role of women in today's society, memories of her childhood in the Ruhr area in Germany and other cultural influences of fine arts and pop music.

Elements of diary-like artistic drawings are combined with elements of grace and violence, idyll and terror. The perception and adoption of the elements from the imaging media - such as books, television, internet, advertising, private and foreign photographs - is the subject of the drawing itself.

The quotation of the media perceived becomes the subject of the "old-fashioned-analogue" drawing composition in reduced black and white. The "black and white" itself is addressed in a society as a "black and white problem" in which traditional values and certainties are increasingly rocked and complicated situations can hardly be considered and presented in a differentiated way. IN ZWISCHEN / IN BETWEEN refers to the time and the interim and all that "between" the media happens in reality. The book questions life with and in the media without that the author Anja Wiese used the media devices itselfs, like her video installations in the past.
