MELANCHOLY - SELF PORTRAIT
Every year of my college career I have made a self portrait. This was the result of my first year's efforts in 2017. It is meant to reflect my feelings of the time: boredom, lack of excitement, and loneliness. I had very few friends and had moved away from home for the first time. I began by taking reference photos and used them to draw out the face.
The rest was about picking a satisfactorily bland color scheme and using the pen tool to build out the rest. At this time, I was only using my trackpad for all of my design work. Every anchor point in this piece was meticulously placed and adjusted without a drawing tablet or mouse.
