PIECE BY PIECE | GROUP EXHIBITION
NO END CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE

I was invited to participate in a group exhibition, "curated by Sydney Keeney (No End Contemporary Art Space) that celebrates a wide range of artists that use collage and digital collage as a medium or alternatively allow it to inform their aesthetic." (NO END)
I submitted a series of 3 collages. View the catalogue here.

This series is an ode to the Ocean. To me, it is a place that heals and gives life and protection. A mother figure. I want to change the way a lot of people see the Sea. It is a place that needs to be respected and treated with kindness. I think that if people take time to learn more about it, they will be less likely to do things that will cause it harm.
Shark Head | Hand Collage | 30x30 cm

“For a minute there, I lost myself. I lost myself.” – What Youth
Shark Head is a self-portrait of sorts. The shark became a symbol of identity in my work when I found strength within myself that I didn’t believe I had.

Sea Bed | Hand Collage | 29,5x38 cm

Sea Bed is about finding peace in the midst of chaos. The words come from Never Let Me Go, a beautiful song by Florence & The Machine.

“Though the pressure’s hard to take, it’s the only way I can escape.
It seems a heavy choice to make but now I am under...
A thousand miles down to the sea bed
Found the place to rest my head.”

The song played a big role in inspiring this series of work. This work is a hand cut paper collage print.
Safe and Sound | Mixed Media | 42x29.7 cm

“And the crashes are heaven for a sinner like me
But the arms of the ocean delivered me.”
-Never Let Me Go by Florence and The Machine.

This work is a portrayal of the Ocean as a home, a place to heal and find shelter.
The collage work was done by hand. The drawings were also done by hand in ink
pen, and then digitally edited into the image.
