Winter on croatian island Susak is very special experience. It's true that this was in the same time also my first Susak's experience. But still. Island is mostly formed of fine sand laid on a limestone rock base so geologically differs from other Croatian islands.  Reason that Susak is 7 km (4.3 mi) away from first bigger island Lošinj probably results in that this island is quite unique in all others views. This is also one of the reasons that throught the history this island had numerous owners. Greeks, Illyrians, Romans, Napoleon, Austro-hungarians, Italians and even nazis. But after WWII, when it was part of Yugoslavia, Tito applied it's national labour plan (basicly he forced them to work for free for newly formed country of Yugoslavia), so more than 80 % of its habitants left this island and went mostly to USA to find a better life. Now you can find on island just about 200 people. (summarized from Wikipedia)

Picture of Susak is quite differnt in warmer months form may to september, when more and more tourist comes here for summer holidays. But this is another story. I want to show you winter of Susak. Where you have felling that time has stoped.

Sea, peace and unfortunately also cold "burja" wind
