The Boring Projects Series 1 - Layers
Everyone knows how important for storytelling, especially as an experience designer. We talked about empathy, storytelling, and creativity all the time. Empathy again? Yeah I know you might be tired of this topic. You are not alone! I don't want to make myself feel numb. I want to find a way to tell my own story. My story probably not interested enough, but that's my real life, find a new perspective to think about it, and give me a chance to use my language to share it.
October 29, 2018, was just another typical day. Like any other day in the past few months, I keep scrolling on my phone to read tons of information: news, social media posts, and some messages; and then I got the notification from google photos it shows it's time to revisit your past few months memories. I opened the google photos album and went through all the pictures that saved on the cloud. I got shocked, there are only two months left in 2018, time flies! We haven't had time to go back and look at these memories. everything automatically sync up to the cloud, it is convenient but I do think I should find a Way to record some tiny moments at my life. So I create this project and named as The Boring Projects.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by every moment that takes your breath away.”
The black and white photos represent my normal daily life, combine with the colorful illustrations, it well captured my tiny moments during the daily life, It can be my imagination or factual things, I don't want to set constraints for this project, just want to give me a chance think about all these normal but might meaningful moments.
What can I do for the next couple of days that would push me out of my comfort zone, set me on a challenge to learn new stuff, and would also be fun as I pursue it? I named this as the boring projects: No brief; No constraints; No metrics to measure success.
It's just started. Hopefully see you soon at the next series.
