SAGA is the first example of a product generated within a larger system, which is the generation of orthosis and medical elements using modern digital fabrication techniques. This project proposes the incorporation of FabLabs within hospitals, their workflow and rehabilitation process for patients, generating the elements needed for them to speed, aid or supplement their recovery. The origin of the project comes from many elements and objects needed by special kinds of patients being hand-made or imported at a very high cost. The implementation of FabLabs would allow the generation of high quality elements, tailored to each patients ergonomics without being handmade and keeping the costs lower than if such goods were imported.
