    This project's aim was to create a new educational model through architecture. The chosen site was a waterfront property, Peck Slip in New York, which had been selected for development. I decided to use the idea of the traditional 'schoolhouse corridor' and elevate it to a position which would establish it as a space unto itself as well as provide advantageous views and more generous daylight access. The larger geometries look for surrounding buildings and neighborhood for inspiration for size and scale, but abandon traditional ideas about axis' and orientation for ones more suited to the specific site it was located in. These larger geometries, which rotate falling away from the upper corridor, house the primary classrooms and secondary learning spaces. The series of buildings which compose the site enclose an exterior space intended for use by children, a valuable commodity in a dense urban environment. Read Less
