The revenge killings of Kerala

In the killing fields of Kannur in Kerala, men from both the RSS and the CPI(M) are locked in an unending cycle of murderous, tit-for-tat attacks. As many as 216 men have died since 1969 here, 69 of them between 2000 and 2016.
Sreejit, a farm labourer and a CPI(M) supporter had been admitted to the hospital after he was attacked by RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a Hindu nationalist, right wing volunteer organisation in India) party workers. With deep wounds all over his body, he tells us that he strongly believes that the RSS will lose support soon.

She recounts how in In July 2016, men on motorcycles dashed into Sajni's house. Her husband, Dhanraj, a well known CPI(M) worker, screamed for help. But the men chased him down, slashes his chest and cut his neck. He died on his way to the hospital.

The same night, an RSS trade union worker, C.K. Ramachandran was killed in his house. His wife. Rajni, witnessed the murder and said that it felt as though everyone had gone deaf that night. They killed him with swords and the entire living room floor was smeared with blood.
