The Vallée de la Clarée is a special place for me. Discovered during my childhood and rediscovered through the work of photographer Alexandre Deschaumes, it's my favorite place for a hiking weekend.
Having a few days of vacation in November, I went to take a big breath of fresh air for two days. It takes me about three hours to get there but I often linger because the road to go is exceptional. It meanders through the Romanche gorges, climbs the Lautaret pass and descends towards the fortified city of Briançon.
Autumn is my favorite season. It is even more so when I arrive in the valley. The trees turn into orange torches and the snow contrasts with the black rock of the mountains.
