Is it possible to achieve absolute darkness?
Maybe in the human light visible spectrum, but If you are near some matter and that matter is above 0 K (so, always) then there will be some blackbody photons around. If you go into deep space to try to get away from all matter, there will be photons from the cosmic microwave background, which are, in fact, very old blackbody photons.
You can make a really cold, dark chamber that contains almost no photons, but getting it down to a strict zero is probably not possible.
So, since there is no absolute darkness and there are photons everywhere, probably when we die, we don´t go into the darkness...there will be always a light. Enjoy El Día de los Muertos!
