Once Upon a Type

Once Upon a Type, an identity for TypeCon, explores the stories that type tells us. The overall design is inspired by 18th century-onward book typesetting, and the delicacies that occur within books to guide a reader. The typeface chosen—Mrs Eaves—is a inspired by Baskerville, an ubiquitous book typeface continuously used since the 1700s. Created in 1996, Mrs Eaves explores the traditional typeface in a modern setting. This exploration  of refacing the traditional brings into light the self-referential qualities of type, and the future of type.
