The Concept

 

BADEL BLOCK should not become an ordinary city block, but rather a truly special and remarkable one.

Can the current uncompleteness be seen as a plus, a chance not to make a yet another closed city block?

A possibility to mix the unmixable into a super tasty urban coctail.

How about providing a one of a kind adrenalin rush for all? Sort of a neon bath function mix.

People witnessing extreme sports craziness for breakfast. That kind of remarkable.

The new BADEL BLOCK is not a compromise.

 

The Badel FUN FACTORY intervention consists of a contextual separation, but at the same time, at a more profound level integration of the two main requirements – that of the public and private sectors. It is because of a desire for maximization of the two needs within the block confinesthat we resorted to a vertical and horizontal separation of the PUBLIC versus PRIVATE. Therefore, we opened the HORIZONTAL almost in its entirety to the public and concentrated all private activities within the VERTICAL, erected upon one rectangle of the grid.

The tower as a vertical pole is visible from all parts of the city and beyond. It functions as a signpost and attractor to the city and finally to the block.

 

Blue is the colour of the city of Zagreb. It is the colour of its flag, of its tour buses, trams, bycicles, balloons. It’s the colour of Badel FUN FACTORY.

People are energy. People are buildings blocks of the concept. Everyone is invited to this truly post-industrial 21st century production scape that turns social and economic resources into pure and unlimited FUN.
