IREDEA, science fiction rock opera
IREDEA is billed as a science fiction rock opera. It is a one hour live performance combining dance, theatre, music, and special effects. The show premiered in 2014 at Montreal's Acces Asie Festival and was performed at the Montreal & Ottawa Fringe Festivals, and performance arts showcases. Ted Strauss was the director and producer, co-creating the show with choreographer Jenn Doan.
The images below show off the special effects used in the show. 1. A remote controlled robot puppet character that speaks and takes "photographs" of the performers. 2. A giant iridescent jellyfish puppet, controlled by a dancer underneath. 3. A laser light effect embedded into a costume that is projected onto a dancer's body.
