Self / Digital Self
For my bachelor thesis in Interaction Design, I wrote about the Self / Digital Self complex I observed during my years growing up with the internet. I wrote about our identity and the digital duplicate we seem to have through all our internet activity and new technology. Our personality which we are born with gets translated through us to several platforms like facebook and twitter, but at the same time, a different version gets shaped through machines and algorithms, for example Google or Amazon.
I interviewed six young people about their internet habits, identity awareness and self projection to the web. The results were put together into an explorative and philosophical essay, which is accompanied by images, cultural probes and thought about the role of computer interfaces.
