Michigan Virtual High-School

OVERVIEW
While Art Director and partner with Cameo Multimedia, we produced these innovative interactive courses for Michigan Virtual High School's Online AP Distance Learning program. Many schools in remote cities simply couldn't offer AP courses to their students due to lack of resources or qualified staff. I led our team of designers to make these programs engaging, educational, fun, and attractive. I also contributed as a member of the instructional design team to help bridge the gap between the "subject matter experts" (aka: teachers) and the creative process.
FEATURED SKILLS:

PROJECT SAMPLES
PROJECTILE MOTION:  This topic is part of the Physics course and follows a standardized process with most of the other courses. The concept and any relevant equations are introduced, usually with creative concepts like an amusement park. Then students can experiment with the controls to see how things work before they do the actual experiments. Lastly, students are required to enter their data and results in a virtual lab sheet.
In this topic, Stuntman Steve is being shot out of a cannon. Students are asked to predict the height and distance based on their control settings. (clip contains no audio)
VIEWING EARTH FROM SPACE: This topic teaches geometry with a space science theme. Students discover how much of the earth can be seen from space by experimenting with an interactive geometric equation. Other interactive UX / UI elements reflect the space science theme and help students understand complex concepts.  Students then graph the observed data in the lab sheet for instructor led analysis later. (clip contains no audio)
VELOCITY: Distance over time is explored by using a virtual stopwatch to clock various cars as they travel on their way to an amusement park. Observed data is recorded in the virtual lab sheet for instructor led analysis later.
FORCE: Mass times acceleration is explored at the amusement park with an out and back rollercoaster. Students can witness the facial expressions of our loyal assistant Robert by watching the "Bob Cam" as they experiment with the ride controls. Observed data is recorded in the virtual lab sheet for instructor led analysis later.
VIRTUAL AQUARIUM: Living things are dramatically affected by the quality of their ecosystem. This simulation allows students to investigate what makes an aquarium ecosystem heathy and what might just ruin it. Don't worry, virtual fish can be brought back to life fairly easily, but letting them die might affect your grade!
