Megabots is a multiplayer fighting game that immerses you in a procedural galactic arena. Play as a powerful Battlebot and face your opponent in fierce sword fights. This game was created in 3 months under the following theme constraint:
"A meaningful death."
Megabots was designed to provide a sporting experience through intense confrontations by combining nervousness, dexterity and tactics.
Before each game, players can assign special abilities to their 3 Powerbots (drones that follow the player) which also serve as an indicator of remaining lives.
Each time a Battlebot is defeated, one of its drones disappears and activates a capability chosen by the player: heavy armor, teleporter, magnetic grapple, powerful drone throwing and more.
In other words, losing lives unlocks useful additional powers.
My mission as game artist/designer, in addition to working on the game mechanics, was to create a visual identity that mixed the futuristic with the sporting side through 3D modeling, animations, VFX, interface design, lighting and post-processing.
With a variety of game modules and a procedurally generated arena, each new round rebuilds the entire playing area while placing traps (circular saws, laser spikes, rotating mines, magnetic grounds) that can be useful to gain an advantage over your opponent.
Thank you for watching!
