Day 23. Deadbeat
Deadbeat is a fictional online music community focused on EDM, Drum & Base, House, Dubstep, etc type of music.
Client has instructed to focused the logo around the dead and beat idea.
Initially I wanted to utilized 'flat line' as it contain both ideas of dead and beat.
However, the company focus on loud volume and energetic music.
To capture the atmosphere, I first drew heartbeat.
When we are exposed to exciting and adrenaline rushed type of music, our heart beat rapidly.
Although it is not completely accurate, I chose the color of visible light spectrum since it contain 'frequency'.
I wanted to avoid the skull to be highly recognizable, because it is very common idea.
So I minimized the skull shape.
I purposely re-position the bottom of skull to create a sense of direction.
With a combination of light color to the left side, eye flow from left to right while partial negative space is gradually increasing.
This mimic increasing in volume as Electronic music has build up that lead to a drop.
