Day of the Dead Mermaid - T shirt Design

An open brief, where I decided to design a shirt illustration for a favourite clothing company.

For my exam in my last year of Sixth Form, I decided to risk doing Screen Printing for my 12 hour exam. Which was split in to 3 days.

First day - To trace my whole design in seperate layers for each colour (9 in total)

Second day - Design was put on to the screens, mixed my colours while the screens finished forming. Began Screen printing the first couple of layers on to 9 shirts. (4 for exam, the other 5 were put upon me by the Head of Art for the exhibition, where my work was the main foundation)

Third day - Complete screen printing all layers on to every shirt. Which I did successfully complete.

This screen printing was a traditional method where we used wooden screens, and we were not equipped with metal guards and other equipment. Only myself and some assistance from an art tutor to hold the screen down.

Following the first sketch, I developed it to fit in to the screen and also along the smallest shirts (female tees).
Now have some clearer lines, slightly shorter hair, and a slight background and Disturbia title. Following my research most tshirts from Disturbia Clothing will have the word 'Disturbia' involved with the design.

Here is the first large A2 sketch of the Day of the Dead Mermaid.
