VERDACOMB: A Graphic Novel

VERDACOMB is a long term project encompassing graphic novels, short animations, and the possibility of a feature length animated film or animated series. Over the past four years the story has expanded in characters, environments, concept technology, intricate plot twists, as well as philiosophical ideas. The story has become a mirror of our own world, capable of opening the eyes of the audience to the bigger picture we seem to use as a backdrop for our daily lives. Although it has not always been as developed visually as the depiciton above, the process of discovering this world has been an exciting journey.
The project expanded visually during my senior year at SCAD, when I developed the first book into a two minute short animation for my Senior Film. Drawing backgrounds and spending time deliberating on style and world building allowed me to implant myself within the world and gave me a new perspective on what was previously just an idea.
Concept art for a mecahnical device called the Orb Suit started from the beginning, becoming the anchor point for the rest of the Verdacomb universe.
The first character designs came next, which have come a long way in terms of unique style.

The system uses magnetic vehicles that serve as automated taxis, moving in one direction while floating.
The novel has moved forward into concept page layouts and panel arrangements. The final chapters will be released on Verdacomb.com once the site is complete.

The Orb Suit, used in the annual game by each nation's team.
Potential cover art for book one, as well as a good perspective from within the arena. A mirror blimp is positioned above the game floor in order to give on lookers outside of the structure a peek at the action.
Possible tshirt design with the Orb Suit symbol.
Parallel to the VERDACOMB storyline is an animated short series called TOFUZILLA, which highlights transitional plot lines with apocalyptic, time-traveling, enlightenment seeking themes.
