Cafe Luxo is the place where new ideas spark  and great stories are remembered.
This fast food facility would be located in Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where  guests are taken into the world of Pixar Animation Studios.
The concept was inspired by the studio’s animated short films, and their unique stories and characters.
Extensive research took place to preserve the design of the original Pixar campus, and to bring the animator’s imagination to life in surprising ways.
The interior of the building holds the service area where guests order their food. The layout preserves the traditional ordering system found accross Disney parks, to help guests know how to move around the space.
The outdoor area is inspired by the amphiteater found at the original Pixar Campus. This space provides seating for casual dining.
(Kitchen design was not part of the scope of this project)
Layout
The facades follow the aesthetics of Pixar Place, using the same shapes and materials. However when guests look twice, they might begin to notice that there is something special about this building. Some of the bricks are arranged in such a way that they might resemble some faciliar faces from the Pixar world.

The large glass walls would serve as projection surfaces to show scenes from the short films, having the characters interact with the guests that are inside.
The boards on the walls display original sketches done by the animators, some of which would come to life to surprise guests.
Condiment bars would hold every kind of ketchup, mayo and other condiments, as a gag that references the "cereal room" at Pixar studios.
The trash cans represent the Tin Toy character, making sounds and even moving like he did when he was trapped in his box.
An "infinite" ladder resembles the magic trick from "Presto", making guests look twice (and smile) as they exit to the seating area.
A loft space showcases art from the short films, adding on as new ones are released.
The menu has the format of a storyboard page. The options are named after characters from the films, also featuring an "animator's burger" as a create-your-own option.
The little snow man from the short film "Knick Knack" struggles to get of of his snowball, represented on the top of the soda fountains.
Outdoor Seating Area
The outdoor seating area resembles the amphitheater and courtyard found at Pixar Animation Studios. The iconic Luxo lamp and bouncing ball decorate the space along with several iconic elements from other short films.
The ball is a fountain that can be spin around in its place, providing a water play area for the kids.
Beyond the trees, the walls are covered in landscape art from Pixar’s very first short film.
At night Luxo would light up and follow guests around the courtyard with its spotlight.

The design of the tables would display sketches and other items that the animators left behind.
