With this weeks illustration Friday topic, I decided to pay a small homage to the excellent film 'Life of Pi'. This scene depicts the storm with the tiger (Richard Parker) and Pi. I felt this part of the movie tamed the tiger slightly with the storm tossing him about easily, so I tried to intentionally bring in facets of the Wizard of Oz's 'Cowardly Lion' to his character.

Original sketch. Pi's character remained pretty much the same, however the tiger started off more cartoon like. I decided he would look better more true to life with hints of exaggerated features (Cowardly Lion inspiration) I also decided to remove the fish.
Below id just an idea of how messy the canvas in Photoshop can get! Here I am refferencing features from a real Tiger.
