The Summit: Concept Art and Graphics

Eager to contribute to a local themed entertainment attraction, I joined a talented crew of incredible individuals of all talents to produce a thrilling escape room. In “The Summit” guests visit the Cima de Sombras Mountain Range Reserve to enter the haunted mine shaft, the Ikal Mino. There they are guided by Ranger Bailey past the various puzzles, illusions, and attacks thrown by the not-so-friendly specters. This project was nearly a year in the making and required a crew of over 40 artists to design, build, and maintain.  I was responsible for providing storyboards, the map, as well as some construction and operations. I am thoroughly honored to have participated on this project, and am excited to share I am currently working on TEA@SCAD’s 2019 follow up project: “Lost in the Desert: The Desert Man Lives.”
“Lights on” view of “The Summit” facade with the Cima De Sombras map out front.
A large 6’x4′ map outside the entrance to the Ikal Mino. When viewed by cautious guests, they may learn of the many gondolas, visitor centers, and dangerous “wildlife” native to the area that are discussed in the attraction’s pre-show radio channel. First pass was produced in Adobe Photoshop, second pass (shown here) was completed in Adobe Illustrator.
Early storyboards used to inspire the crew of “The Summit” and give some creative direction for set design and layout. Inspired by designs and models by director Alexander Krikes.
