Drug testing feature article and cover illustration. The idea behind the illustration is people feeling trapped or unable to break their habits or addictions to the point of allowing themselves abuse the various substances in the workplace. This issue was a finalist in the 2019 Jesse H. Neal Awards' Best Single Issue of a Tabloid/Newspaper/Magazine.
This article was about reporting injuries or lack thereof. A lot of workers are prone to blowing off small accidents which can ultimately impact their ability to work safely. This places them in situations where more severe incidents can occur. For the illustration, I drew a worker covered in bandages pushing himself to a dangerous point.
This article discussed the importance of emergency preparedness in the event of a natural disaster. Instead of focusing on one disaster, I drew 4 panels and used replicated elements to overlap and break the edges of their borders to tie the piece together as a whole.
This cover article was pretty straightforward hence the obvious art to go along with it. Being an avid hand letterer, I drew some custom letters to offer a refreshed look to the Safety Decisions cover.
