Packaging experience for a premium chef's knife

'Packaging is an experience...'

THE PACKAGING CONCEPT

The packaging is made in the workshop using scrap materials (off-cut acrylic, off-cut copper, off-cut wood & wood shavings). As Despite using scrap materials, the packaging still requires a large amount of materials, and is therefore designed as a concept upon which the future commercial packaging will be based.

The acrylic forms a hard outer shell, which is enclosed with wooden caps on either side. Whilst the top cap opens, the bottom one is held in place by the copper overlay. The inside is filled with wooden shavings to absorb moisture and thus protect the knife, which itself is in a simple card sheath.

'Every product needs a good story....'

THE DOCUMENTATION

A documentation is given to each customer along with their new knife. It is an illustrated guide to kitchen knives, their anatomy and correct use. Last, but not least, it illustrates the craft process. The aim of the documentation is to add to the experience for the customer.
