Talking Riko iOS Mobile Application
Culture is very hard to define, yet it is that very profound footprint that defines who we are. The very essence of culture starts in that early human interaction of every individual’s upbringing, where we acquire some of our parent’s values and they become imprinted within us.
The movie that has most inspired me is Life is Beautiful (1997) directed by Roberto Benigni - Guido. The movie recounts the story of a father that helps his son, Joshua, survived by pretending their crude reality is all a game.
The movie is the vivid language of parental sacrifice, but it also displays the compelling determination of a parent to teach his children a life with joy despite unbearable circumstances. Concept:
The goal with the app was to show my child a good part of my culture in a way that he could easily understand and enjoy. So, I initially had thought of a game or a little animation. However, I thought that the idea of a Talking Character app – a digital pet - with a Latin side personality would have been more enjoyable and even more fun to do.
UX Experience
Being my first animation or gaming experience, I have to say there was a lot to learn. Yet, I was certain I wanted to implement elements that current digital - Talking Character - pets dont have. One is the ability to use rotation on the device.
Talking Riko first dance move was involved a latin music genra named regeatoon. It was fun to see this was very much enjoyed by my child, who almost immediatelly imiteted its dance moved
But how can you have a digital pet, without the ability of sharing it with friends through social Media. Thus, We enable Talking Riko to share its engagement.
