Wrightsville Beach Magazine Relocates Following Hurricane Florence
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA – Working remotely from six locations in two states during Hurricane Florence and the storm's aftermath allowed Wrightsville Beach Magazine staff to complete the October issue on time. When it was safe to go back to the office, team members discovered a suite without vital Internet service. The service interruption lasted 28 days.

This lengthy period without essential Internet service forced publisher and editor Pat Bradford, with staff, to make a thorough and thoughtful review of the successful system executed in response to Hurricane Florence and to adopt it, not just as a crisis plan but as a model for the future.

Wrightsville Beach Magazine personnel are in the process of vacating the publication’s offices on Wrightsville Avenue near the Heide Trask Drawbridge. Team members will individually continue to work remotely, while also collaborating in the production of each monthly issue in the highly synergetic, and innovative shared-space environment of tekMountain on Sir Tyler Drive, opposite Mayfaire on Military Cutoff Road in Wilmington.

“We are terribly excited to be at tekMountain,” Bradford said. “This is not a path we might have chosen, except for what we learned through production during Hurricane Florence. Ultimately this new way will be a highly positive advancement for our magazine, our team, advertisers, and readers."

Coincidentally, headlining October’s issue is the feature article Strength and Perseverance, featuring the sanctuary for wild horses of Shackleford Banks.
