Project 2: Responsive Microsite Layout & Design

Responsive Microsite Layout & Design Process | Project 2
For this project we were tasked with creating a homepage and microsite for a sub-brand of a company randomly pulled out of a hat. The site needs to be responsive on both mobile and desktop. The company we got is Stan Smith Adidas. The name of the collection was created from a famous tennis player named, as you can probably guess, Stan Smith. The ultimate end goal is the microsite’s pages working effectively on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

Font Exploration | The original fonts that Adidas uses are not free for use, so we found the next best thing. A font that looks similar to the original site, but more round rather than so rigid and sharp.
Thumbnail/Layout sketches | A further exploration of all the parts of the microsite consisting of the homepage, lifestyle shop page, 404 page, and product shopping page.
Photography Moodboard | We intend on taking our own photographs for the microsite. We want to play off of three different lifestyles: clean/minimal, skater/grungy, and fashion/street style. A moodboard was the perfect way to showcase the direction we wish to go for the project. All photographs are from Unsplash.com
Favicon | Adidas currently just uses their logo as their favicon. We want to push the idea that you are on the Stan Smith Collection Microsite so we used his initals SS.
Process of product shots behind the scenes
Another round of choosing fonts since the original looks too close to Helvetica. We decided to try a serif font to counter balance the sans serif font Adidas currently uses.
A screenshot of some progress being made in the program XD. We started placing in the photos we shot and began placing in some of the body copy we wrote.
