One of my @SamsaysCreate customers came to me and asked if I could create her a stable sign for her horse Prince. With challenges of how it would be made suitable for the outdoors – as I specialise in print and frames – I ended up collaborating with a talented friend who happens to have a laser machine!
Below is some samples to show 2 design techniques used – an illustrated style and a blocky style. I chose to go with the blockier style because it filled the horses face a lot more, allowing for more brown colouring off the burnt wood.
To create this piece of work, I drew the horses head on an iPad just in B&W and uploaded it to Adobe Illustrator where I created the rest of the plaque. The horse itself was drawn with negative intension as it replicated the dark colouring more accurately.
The wood is maple and the sizing is approximately 50x42cm. I'm really happy with how this has turned out and I can't wait to see it up outside the stable!
