A SPECIAL DREAM is the inspirationally true story of a father who, against all odds, pursues his vision to build a facility to care for special needs kids and their families all while trying to balance his own family.
We meet the Castriota family just before a moment that changes the course of their family’s life forever. Their daughter’s mitochondrial disease and autism diagnosis reprioritizes everything in every way possible. Absence of localized therapeutic resources means that they, like so many others, spend hours upon hours driving to many different appointments.
When the idea occurs to Louie to centralize therapeutic resources, he quickly realizes that this could solve many of the problems that families like theirs face.
The only problem is, Louie’s never started anything. Where does a 30 year old dad of four even begin? Is now really the best time to try this? While he has a great job, he has no college degree to fall back on and with the family’s new financial pressure... it may be a great idea but perhaps it’s just not the right time.
Or perhaps it’s precisely times like this, when the possibility of a better life for your family is on the line that you throw away your own fears, insecurities and ideal time frames - it’s time for action. Whether he and the rest of their family is ready for it or not.
